The calm first step in behavioral health intake.
Serenity Station helps patients in psychiatric emergency and behavioral health settings express why they're here — in their own words — before the clinical conversation begins.
What it is
Serenity Station is a tablet-based check-in companion for psychiatric EDs, residential treatment, corrections, and veterans programs. While they wait, patients describe their reason for visit, identify what they're feeling, answer a safety screening question, and prepare for the questions their care team will ask. The result is a clear, patient-approved summary in the clinician's hands before they walk into the room — plus calming activities that help patients regulate during long waits.
Built by a Virginia Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with firsthand experience in psychiatric emergency settings.
How it works
Patient checks in.
On a facility tablet, fully offline — guided prompts, feeling identification, and a safety screen, at the patient's own pace.
Patient reviews and approves.
Nothing is shared until the patient says so.
Staff delivers the summary.
A staff member confirms the patient match and the summary reaches the care team — on screen, in print, or directly into the patient's chart in athenaOne.*
*athenaOne integration in development through athenahealth's Marketplace partner program.
Why facilities choose it
Better first conversations
Clinicians start with the patient's own words, feelings, and a completed safety screen — not a blank page.
Calmer waiting rooms
Guided breathing and quiet activities give patients something steadying to do during long ED waits.
Security by design
Patient tablets are fully offline and hold nothing after a session ends. Serenity Station stores no patient data — not on the tablet, not in any cloud. There is no database of your patients to breach, because none exists.
Simple to run
No integration required to start. Works on your existing tablets day one; the athenaOne connection can follow.
Pilot with us
We're partnering with a small number of facilities for early pilots — setup on your devices, training, and direct founder support included.
